WHAT ARE YOU DOING IN CAMBODIA AND WHY?
Came the first time in Cambodia in 2014 to open a resort in Kep (Samanea Resort) as General Manager for a Belgian guy. After one year, in 2015 I decided to leave and get the opportunity to go to work in the Bahamas in a luxury hotel as Assistant Manager Director.
After this experience, I was definitely missing the Kingdom of Wonder and get the opportunity to get back my job in Kep so I back in Cambodia in April 2016. I worked in kep until December and after some issue with my job I moved to Phnom Penh where I worked in two hotels (the VMansion and the 252 Boutique Hotel).
6 months ago I give another direction at my professional life and back to the job I was doing 10 years ago, event organizer. Nowadays, I work for one of the biggest event company in town as Business Development Manager.
WHAT DO YOU LOVE?
Well, will be a bit classic to say but yeah I love hang out with my friends and my colleagues of course.
I have several passion/addiction in life. I am football coach since 2002 and continue to do it here for a multicultural team (players from 12 different nationalities) since 2 years. I think this is the most exciting thing I am doing right now (laugh).
On my personal time, I love to listen to music, read a book (almost one per week) and watch a movie. I particularly love to study anthropology and cultural. To make it easier to understand, I sometimes do speak about intercultural management for universities. So indeed I love to study about the topic and discover new things about new civilizations.
I really love to cook as well, which was my job for 3 years when I was a student at university.
WHAT ARE YOU GOOD AT (Do you think)?
Well, this should ask to my boss, my friends or my girlfriend (haha).
To be honest I am a very simple person but I think I can say I am good at socializing with new people and also helping people.
I love to help people to fix their problem or issues. I think I am a good manager, always very listening with my people, trying to understand all context before make a decision.
I can honestly say also I am a good cook.
WHAT CHANGE DO YOU MOST LOVE TO CREATE IN THE WORLD?
well, hard to find only one ’cause there are so many things to change in this world to keep it safe for our kids. I think the most important would be to make people understand we have to save our planet. I will always remember one famous quote: “We don’t inherit the earth from our ancestors, we borrow it from our children”.
I would like also to try to make people more open-minded and patient about difference and different culture. I am always so terrified to see people judging others just from what they can see without try to know more. It makes me so angry sometimes to see stupidity going over smartest judgement.
WHAT DO PEOPLE VALUE AND PAY YOU FOR?
Don’t really know what I can say here. I can organize wonderful event for you. Seriously, I am willing to teach more and more in the years coming about intercultural management and management in general but very hard to have contact and opportunities in this area.
WHAT IS THE MOST STRUGGLING THING IN YOUR LIFE RIGHT NOW?
Money (haha).
No, I am joking, I cannot complain about anything, my life is wonderful right now.
