Mustafa Zazai / Afghanistan National Football Team Player
Mustafa Zazai is a well-known German-Afghan football player who has risen to fame as a midfielder in Cambodia. He has one of the highest work rates for a midfielder in the Southeast Asian region. Zazai’s story began when he fled to Germany as a refugee at the age of six. He found it difficult to adapt to the new way of life and make friends, but his love for football remained unchanged. Zazai started playing for a small football village team, which helped him to make new friends and learn the German language.
Zazai’s football skills soon caught the attention of several teams, and he played for various clubs in Germany before joining Chachoengsao Hi-Tek FC in Thailand. He then moved to Phrae United FC, Kelantan, Phnom Penh Crown, Visakha, and finally signed with Boeung Ket in 2022. Despite the differences between football in Germany and Southeast Asia, Zazai loves playing football in Southeast Asia and enjoys the more relaxed lifestyle.
However, Zazai has faced challenges in his career, particularly with the Afghanistan national team. After a military offensive by the Taliban in 2021, the future of Afghanistan football has become uncertain. Zazai’s future with the team is unclear, but he remains positive and focused on his career, hoping to secure another move for the time being before the 2023-2024 Cambodian Premier League begins in August.
